Fast Technology reported on January 23 that recently, China Telecom Satellite Company and Shanghai Qingshen Technology Development Co., Ltd. jointly carried out interoperability verification of the medium-orbit satellite network and ground 4/5G network based on "Smart Skynet 01 Star", and conducted scientific research in Antarctic The station completed my country's first mid-orbit satellite polar 4/5G communication.

According to reports, "Smart Skynet" is a mid-orbit pan-synchronous orbit space-based network solution proposed by Tsinghua University. After networking, it can provide global broadband satellite network services.

During this scientific expedition mission, China Telecom provided satellite-ground communication capabilities through mid-orbit satellites, and carried out experimental verification of data, SMS, voice, video and other services.

After testing, the network speed can reach more than 100Mbps and the delay is about 300ms.

Users can access China Telecom 4/5G base station through mobile terminals and other devices at the Antarctic scientific research station, and pass it back to China Telecom satellite exclusive 4/5G core network from the mid-orbit satellite link, and realize interconnection with the ground network.

This experiment proves the reliability of mid-orbit satellites in polar communications, providing satellite communication solutions for high latitudes and ground-free areas covering areas around the world.
