Square Enix unveils a new group customer harassment policy designed to protect its employees from bad fan behavior.

The policy states that there are situations where “the actions taken by certain customers … constitute ‘customer harassment’ of employees” that may be carried out through violence, defamation, intimidation or other means.

"This type of behavior not only prevents our employees and partners from working with peace of mind, but also causes interference to other customers. Square Enix will not tolerate harassment and will take action if necessary," the policy reads.

In addition to defining the harassment it holds, the company stated that it reserves the right to cease providing support services or products and will protect its employees through legal actions or criminal proceedings.

This policy does not specifically list examples of harassment, but it is obviously formulated because of the emergence of such behavior.
