AMD releases the strongest PC chipset on handheld gaming: Zen 2 Extreme

At CES 2025, AMD has finally released the chipset AMD Zen 2 Extreme behind the next generation of handheld gaming PCs.

AMD Zen 2 Extreme, as well as the lower-performance siblings Z2 and Z2 Go, are both powered by Zen 5 CPU cores.While the Zen 2 Extreme uses a GPU based on RDNA 3.5, the Z2 and Z2 Go still use RDNA 3 and RDNA 2, respectively, creating a complete APU series for handheld gaming PCs, which promises to lower the price of handheld devices.

Mobile PC gaming is not just a handheld gaming PC, AMD has also launched a new lineup of Zen 5-based processors for gaming laptops called the "Fire Range" HX3D.These processors will drive the strongest gaming laptops in the next two years, just like Intel's Arrow Lake laptop processors announced at CES.However, unlike Intel, AMD brought the 3D V-cache design behind the Ryzen 7 9800X3D to the gaming laptop.
