Director of "The Last Survivor 2": Treat each work as the final project

With the release of "The Last Survivor 2: Remake" on the PC platform soon, this game series is bound to usher in a new wave of players.However, the series director Neil Druckmann is not sure if the series will have a third game.In an interview, Druckman talked about the way he treated each project as if it was probably his last one.

"Every game I make, every project I participate in, I treat it as maybe my last one. So I will do my best and spare no effort."

He continued, "When we made the first game of The Last Survivor, I did that. I wasn't sure if I could make a sequel, so it had to have a clear ending. Again, it was the same when I made Uncharted 4. When I made The Last Survivor 2, I thought I didn't know if I would have a chance to do something like this, so it had a clear ending, too."

Druckman further elaborates on how he works, and he likes to focus on a single project, whether it is a brand new game IP or a sequel to an old game.

"That's the ending we're trying to achieve. To launch another project, another piece, it takes a lot of factors to be just right, and I can't guarantee it. So at the moment, my energy is focused on this season (TV series), and if HBO renews, there's the next season. I'm also working on a new game called Star."

"Focus on only one project at a time. It has to be done to the best of it. If I get the chance to do the next project, I will focus on that project."

This is a response to the interviewer's question, and the interviewer mentioned that Druckman had previously said that players of The Last Survivor should not expect the series to have subsequent works.

The interviewer asked, citing Druckman, “Don’t expect more of The Last Survivor’s work, and (this series) may end there.”

Druckman explained: "I think if you start thinking about sequels when you make the first game, you're just making trouble for yourself. So when I made The Last Survivor 2, it's true that occasionally there are some ideas that flash in my mind, how would the story develop if we have the chance to make the next one. But I just think of it as ‘What if I don't have a chance to make the next one?’ ... I'm not going to keep some ideas for the future. If there's a great idea, I'll try my best to fit it into this work that's being made."
