"Jedi 2" suddenly fails to run on some old system PCs because the game has new hard and rigid requirements, and the old CPU does not support this requirement.

Although the minimum PC configuration requirements listed on the Steam page have not changed, due to recent optimizations, the game now needs to support the AVX2 instruction set to run.

However, many players have been running the game on systems that do not support the AVX2 command set, but now they are banned from entering the game.

AVX2 essentially allows CPUs to achieve fast and efficient computing, and Intel first supported this instruction set in 2013.This means that the CPU released before this does not have the AVX2 instruction set, so "Jedi 2" will no longer be run.

The Discord server of "Jedi 2" is full of players who suddenly can't play the game on their PC - this is not a free game, and in the past year, players have paid and been able to play normally.

Even though the volunteers tried to reply to all players, the conversation between the two sides became apparently intense.

“I don’t want to tell people that their 13-year-old processors are outdated,” Billby wrote. “I’ve answered this question hundreds of times over the past week. I’ve been sitting here for 48 hours in a row to help players before going to bed. People complain, complain and argue, let alone in insulting and attacking us because we brought bad news. I understand you’re venting your emotions, but I’ve been saying that as a consumer, it’s your responsibility to make sure your system meets the configuration requirements before buying, and you shouldn’t be surprised if your computer doesn’t meet the requirements and can’t run the game.”

In addition to sharing a list of currently known issues, volunteers also shared a variety of solutions for a range of current issues, including checking minimum configuration requirements, rolling back AMD and Nvidia’s graphics card drivers, and clearing game mods from the system.

Arrow Game Studios has now acknowledged the AVX2 issue and is working to fix it.

Community administrator Baskinator wrote on Discord: "We are currently working hard to fix the AVX2 problem. Thank you for your patience and I apologize for the troubles you have caused during this period."

It is not clear when the repair will be completed.
