Nintendo's next-generation console, Nintendo Switch 2, was officially unveiled this week, and a number of third-party games will be announced. Now, developers involved in port development share their experiences on the new system.

Dennis Shirk, executive producer of the Civilization series, said the performance of the Nintendo Switch 2 made the Civilization team "extremely happy".In an interview with Game File, Dennis Shirk said that it was "easy" to work with Nintendo to develop the Switch 2 version.

"Their software development kit is great, with excellent customer support, developer support, and developer relationships. They know they want Civilization on this platform because it's great for displaying mouse operations. And it fits well with our existing PC player base because we support cross-platform online."

The Switch 2 version of "Civilization" has been developed since October last year and is planned to be released simultaneously with Switch 2.

Other developers, such as Avalanche Software, a developer of The Legacy of Hogwarts, have been working on the Switch 2 transplant development for about a year.

"We started with the Switch version and we quickly achieved great results, but we felt that if we introduced more high-resolution material and improved resolution, maps, lighting and world stream loading, we could create higher quality products."

Compared to the initial Nintendo Switch version, the Switch 2 version of The Legacy of Hogwarts has a significant change: some large loading scenarios are removed, such as those when entering Hogsmeade Village.

On PS5 and Xbox Series consoles, this transition is seamless, but on Nintendo Switch, players have to wait.Several areas of Hogwarts Castle have also been tweaked in the Nintendo Switch version due to performance limitations.
