CD Projekt Red co-founder said that over time the studio has gradually understood one thing: they should stick to doing what they do best - a 3A open world RPG.

On the company's official AnswerRED podcast, co-founder Marcin Iwiński discussed the biggest challenges facing the game development process with co-CEO Adam Badowski.

Iwiński pointed out that one of the most important insights of the studio since its inception is that it must resist the temptation to try the types of games or gameplay they are not good at, because there is no guarantee that these content can be of the same quality as existing standards.

He said: "I want to add something very important and I believe Adam will agree with it completely. In all the things we do, one thing we have learned is that we have to be very focused.

We can’t do too much of what we ‘want to do’ or ‘being attracted to do’.We tried it, but it didn't work.We have to focus on the areas we are good at and put all our energy into it.”

Badowski added: "All our strategies are clear. We will focus on developing open-world, narrative-driven 3A RPG games, and that's where we position it - it's our 'niche', so to speak. So the point is there."

"It sounds simple, but when you're growing up, it's really hard to do it because there are so many temptations outside. You see, some people are doing all kinds of new things online, which look cool and fun, and we love playing ourselves, and then they think, 'Let's try it too?' But eventually you have to take a deep breath and go back to what you're really good at. Because once the stall is too big, it's not done well."

"Creative ideas are of course great. Games are getting better and better now, especially in terms of how to play. But you have to turn those ideas into something that suits our philosophy - it takes time. The enthusiasm at the beginning is certainly good, but in the long run, it can't hold on."

CD Projekt just announced last week that the sequel to "Cyberpunk 2077" has now entered the pre-production stage.

"A few weeks ago, the CD Projekt Red team, responsible for the next big-scale new work in the Cyberpunk universe, completed the conceptual phase of the project. Therefore, Cyberpunk 2 (formerly code-named ‘Project Orion’) is now in pre-production."
