Microsoft's recent massive layoffs affected thousands of employees, and this incident happened when the gaming industry and the economy were in a tough time.Microsoft fired 9,000 employees at one time.Although less than half of these layoffs affect the gaming sector, the impact remains significant.

The news surprised both players and game developers.EA Japan President Sean Noguchi shared his views on the situation. He mentioned that while "reorganization" may sound positive in the West, in Japan, this is basically seen as "releasing."

EA日本总裁:微软重组说得好听 本质上就是裁员

In a long article on social media, Noguchi said: "In recent years, foreign-funded companies have been more inclined to seek short-term results from large-scale investments, and there are many cases of changing directions to meet shareholder expectations before enough time has passed. We believe this event is the result of this structure."

Noguchi expressed disappointment with Microsoft's decision, emphasizing that the industry is shaped and supported by every game developer. It’s frustrating that developers may never be able to release projects they’ve been working on for years, and players will miss the long-awaited game.

He explained: “What supports the gaming industry are the creators and staff who have always been sincere in their development. As someone in the same industry, I feel deeply saddened by this decision. The regret that something that has been built for a long time cannot be released to the world, and the reality that players who are looking forward to it will never even have the opportunity to experience it.”
