Nintendo reminds Switch users in Japan to avoid the host being in an overcooled or overheated environment.

Affected by the high temperature weather in some parts of Japan, Nintendo issued a statement on Japanese social media, reminding players: using the host in a "high temperature environment" may cause the device temperature to rise, which in turn causes "failure".

任天堂提醒用户请勿在高温环境下游玩Switch 2主机

The statement is as follows: "When using Nintendo Switch or Switch 2 in high temperature environments, the temperature of the device may rise. This may cause malfunction, so please use the device in an environment of 5–35°C. The temperature in many places has exceeded 35°C recently, so be sure to pay attention when using outdoors."

Interestingly, the statement not only warned of high temperature risks, but also mentioned the low temperature problem—that implies that problems may also occur when using the host in an environment where temperatures are difficult to exceed 5°C.

This reminder has triggered many players in cold areas to provide feedback to Nintendo on social media.A player from Hokkaido said: "5°C?! Is this saying that I won't let me play games in Hokkaido?" The temperature in Hokkaido often drops below freezing point in winter, and the player then added: "It is naturally several degrees below zero outdoors in winter, but it can sometimes reach 5°C indoors."

Although Nintendo has not explained specifically why it is necessary to avoid using the host in extremely hot or extremely cold environments, like all electronic devices, extreme temperatures may slow down charging speeds, accelerate battery loss, and ultimately shorten the service life of the host.
