"Portraitor" was severely plagiarized! The copycat version actually logs on to the Switch platform

Recently, the developer of the popular survival construction game "Palland" is trapped in the vortex of Nintendo's patent litigation, while its cheap copycat "Palland" successfully landed on the Switch store on July 31, 2025.This game, which is released by BoggySoft and priced at $10, has not encountered any obstacles under the Nintendo review mechanism. I don’t know if it was Nintendo’s negligence or other reasons.

According to the store page disclosed by Nintendo Switch eShop, "Palland" openly imitates the art style and marketing rhetoric of "Palland", claiming to provide an "immersive base construction and survival experience", promising to integrate a dynamic journey of "fighting, exploration and evolution".However, in fact, the machine demonstration reveals the truth: characters with rough character modeling move in monotonous scenes, fighting with "cute creatures" that use inferior animations, and the actual gameplay is seriously out of touch with publicity.

It is worth noting that unlike the "Palu" which is involved in the lawsuit, "Pal Continent" deliberately avoids Nintendo's core patent design: the game has no biological capture mechanism, does not use the "weakening of biological blood + sphere capture" gameplay, and does not have a riding system. Finally, the creature design is blurred and the monster image is processed through AI.

The lack of these designs prevents them from legal risks. In contrast, Pocketpair, a developer of "Poru", has continued to modify the gameplay involving Nintendo's patents since November 2024, and the lawsuit is still under trial.

Although "Palland" did not trigger Nintendo's action due to low sales and weak plagiarism traces, it reflects deeper problems. Switch, PSN and other console stores are full of low-quality clones of popular Steam games without any regulatory measures, and independent developers are difficult to obtain the same level of rights protection support for major manufacturers such as Sony and Nintendo.

What do you think about this? Do you think this type of plagiarism should be prosecuted?Welcome to the comment section for discussion.
