Obsidian released its first large-scale update patch 1.2.2 for its latest RPG game "Oath" with a capacity of up to 66GB. The entire progress system of the game has received major repairs, while also bringing more than 60 fixes, adjustments and improvements.
Before the official release of "The Oath" and when I (edited by PC Gamer) tried it out, in an overall very charming RPG game, my personal least favorite element may be its hierarchy system.Basically every weapon or armor and enemies have a hierarchy - this determines the relative strength, not the hierarchy, almost like a simplified version of the Destiny equipment rating system.By previous settings, using equipment that is lower than the enemy level means that your attacks can hardly cause damage to them, even if you have upgraded the equipment several times.This leads to annoying stagnation in the game process, where you suddenly feel completely powerless (usually after entering a new area), either have to replace with a higher-level random gear you accidentally found or search around for rare onesUpgrade the materials to cheer yourself up.This is an unwelcome flaw in an RPG game that was originally smooth and easy to use and has strong movement.
The good news is? They have fixed this issue, or at least made significant improvements.The newly released 1.2.2 patch weakens the entire hierarchy system, making the gap between levels less stringent and better consider how close your weapon is to higher levels.Previously, higher-level enemies would have imposed huge defense bonuses on you and had no response to your attacks, but now, these bonuses will only take effect when the escalation gap is very large, and even ifHit the enemy with lower-level weapons and they will at least wince for a moment rather than completely ignore it.
I personally haven't been able to thoroughly test these changes, but I tried exploring the Broken Canyon with lower-level weapons and it really feels much better.My "good" pistol still deals significantly less damage to enemies at the "excellent" level, but no longer feels totally useless, and I can win the battle with determination and good tactics instead of relying on grenades stuffed with backpacks andHealing potion.This is also very beneficial for resetting skill points.Switching your skill builds becomes painful after you have reached a certain level in the game, as you usually lack the material to lift new gear to a sufficient level.Now even if trying a new style means lowering a level, it is not a big deal, and you can still have fun even when accumulating materials for the sake of upgrading.I think I might try Rob's "Shameful" Rogue Mage tonight...
Other improvements:
Patch 1.2.2 contains significant improvements to peers and NPCs.Now resurrecting your companions in battle will restore their health to 75% of their maximum health, rather than the previous 50%.The initial health of the companions was also increased to enhance their survivability in combat.
This update should also improve the stability of the game.For example, this update removes the crash problem that can occur when eroding siphons on destructible objects.At the same time, resource management of visual effects processing through radial menus during game pause is optimized to prevent rare resource leaks and crashes.
The new patch also improves the frame count when multiple enemy damage numbers are displayed simultaneously, improving the performance of companion animation at the end of the battle.The "blocking" enchantment of one-handed weapons is now working properly.
Additionally, the team buffs from players will now only affect companions as expected.
