Nintendo successfully cracked down on pirated game infringement on French websites!

Recently, foreign media reported that the French website 1fichier.com was fined more than 467,000 euros by a French court for failing to delete the infringing Nintendo pirated game files from its database.

In April 2023, the Paris Court of Appeals ruled that 1fichier.com operator Dstorage SAS is responsible for failing to delete Nintendo pirated games distributed on the website in a timely manner.The court ordered Dstorage to pay Nintendo a 442,750 euros in compensation and a legal fee of 27,000 euros.But Dstorage did not accept the judgment, but decided to appeal.

Now the French Supreme Court finally declared that Dstorage must delete the infringing Nintendo pirated game files and pay compensation to Nintendo.

Nintendo issued a statement saying: "It is glad that the court ruled that Dstorage was held liable and we are very satisfied with the judgment. This means a lot not only to Nintendo, but also to the gaming industry as a whole."This judgment actually requires the hosting service to actively remove the infringing software without waiting for a court ruling.This approach also reflects that Nintendo has taken stricter measures to combat software piracy and hardware simulation in recent years.
