Dark and Darker was released on Steam in February 2023, but Nexon said the game was removed from the shelves once after it was originally its own prototype project P3.Ironmace is composed of former Nexon employees, who claimed that the team used "stolen" code and assets to create Dark and Darker.

In March 2023, Ironmace was raided by South Korean police and seized materials related to "Dark and Darker", but in January 2024, the South Korean court rejected Nexon's preliminary injunction against Ironmace.

Ironmace informed players through Discord: "Epic has decided to remove Dark and Darker" and the decision appears to be based on claims made by opposing parties in an ongoing legal dispute.

However, it seems that the removal process has not been fully completed, as Dark and Darker is no longer accessible, but the paid dlc Dark and Darker - Legendary Status is still available for purchase.

"To address the possibility that Dark and Darker can not be played on Epic, we are looking for alternatives to ensure players can continue to enjoy the game, and then apologize for any "inconvenience" that has been brought to players and promise to share more details as soon as possible," Ironmace said.
