According to reports from Kuai Technology on March 20, SoftBank Group announced that it will acquire independent chip design company Ampere Computing for a $6.5 billion all-cash transaction.

After the transaction is completed, Ampere will operate as a wholly-owned subsidiary of SoftBank and retain its original name.

Founded in 2018, Ampere Computing focuses on manufacturing high-performance processors based on Arm architecture for data center devices.Its early investors included private equity giant Carlyle Investment Group and tech giant Oracle.In this transaction, Carlyle and Oracle will sell their respective shares of Ampere.
