EA Sports offers $1,500 rewards for players appearing in College Football 26

EA Sports has more than doubled the compensation for college football players who appeared in College Football 26 from $600 to $1,500.

According to The Athletic, a sports media affiliate of The New York Times, EA is expected to pay a total of $16.5 million for the names, images and portrait rights (NILs) of its players in the game.

This fee does not include additional compensation paid to ambassadors and cover players, nor does it include the College Football 26 Deluxe Edition game provided to players participating in the game program.

In January this year, EA Sports told The Athletic that there is no news about the adjustment of the player's compensation model.

One month later, the NIL-related organization Pathway was established and began to obtain NIL rights for more than 400 players, providing each player with a $1,500 advance payment.

Sean O'Brien, Vice President of EA Sports, said: "From the beginning, we designed our NIL program to be accessible, direct, voluntary and fair to all participants, providing the same basic reward for every football bowl division (FBS) player selected to participate through the OneTeam platform and the Compass NIL application. This approach allows every player to make decisions independently. College sports are evolving and changing, and EA Sports is focused on continuing to put players first and let them make their debut in College Football 26 and future games."

Pathway President Casey Schwab added: "This is good news for college football players and is in line with Pathway's vision to provide college athletes with the most professional, transparent and legal NIL program. We look forward to working with EA and other partners to achieve our long-term goals."

College Football 25 is the first game to pay college athletes to use their image.EA Sports offers NIL compensation of $600 per person to over 11,000 players.Previously, players were unable to receive compensation due to regulations from the National College Athletic Association (NCAA).

According to Justin Falcinelli, vice president of the College Football Players Association (CFBPA), in 2023, the CFBPA boycotted the low pay of about $500 per player, compared with the situation where NFL players are paid as much as tens of thousands of dollars.
