After the release of "Heart of Atoms 2" at the 2025 Summer Game Festival, Robert Bagratuni, founder, CEO and game director of Mundfish Studios, was interviewed to give an in-depth introduction to the sequel to the popular first-person shooter.
Throughout the conversation, there are two topics worth writing a separate article to emphasize: the sequel will focus more on role-playing game elements, and the larger and more dynamic game world that players will experience.Here are the original words about Bagratuni:
"We introduced a more extended RPG level in Atomic Heart 2, but will be implemented in Mundfish's way - integrating it into the world and experience, rather than just superimposing it for increased complexity. The 'Living World' means we want the world to be no longer just a background board, but a responsive, evolving system. As for RPG elements, our goal is to provide deeper weapon customization, skill trees and growth paths, allowing players to shape the play style more freely than ever before. When we talk about 'Diverity Live'When moving, it refers to the content that rewards curiosity: things that can be explored between main tasks.But it always serves the core experience-we won’t turn it into a list-like open-world game, and everything will retain the hand-crafted surreal tone that fans expect.Heart of the Atom 2 will give players more initiative than previous generations, choice is crucial, and your behavior will affect how a particular event or mission is deployed.As for companions... this question is tricky and I don’t want to spoil it.All I can say is: You won’t be completely alone.”
"The game is more open. We are building a larger, interconnected space that provides more freedom to explore, return to the scene, and interact with different systems (vehicles, mobile tools and new vertical dimensions). The game has a core narrative path, but it also leaves a lot of space for players to discover and repeat. We are not ready to reveal all the environmental systems, but we can expect more dynamic elements (such as day and night cycles and weather) to shape the atmosphere and play. However, everything is still based on story and world logic - scale up to enhance immersion, not overwhelming players."
Unfortunately, Bagratuni also told us that Heart of Atoms 2 "it will take years" to develop, partly because the team wants to improve the polishing of the sequel, making it more compact and immersive.However, we will continue to report related news and rumors throughout the development stage.
