In an interview with GamesRadar, Jan Hermanowicz, engineering manager for The Witcher 4, said that although it is too early to discuss what is in The Witcher 4, let alone The Witcher 5 and The Witcher 6, the move to Unreal Engine does have a lot of help, especially the use of new tools.

Hermanowicz noted that the Unreal 5.6 engine provides a lot of new features for developers of CD Projekt RED in The Witcher 4 and even future games, thanks to the "lots of cool stuff" that can help the studio iterate quickly and move forward. He also mentioned that with these new tools, the development team can quickly adjust the game content and shorten the cycle from receiving feedback to implementing modifications.

Hermanowicz said: "The more precise the process and technology, the more suitable for our game type, the easier it is to make the game. We now have multiple projects moving at the same time. [Cyberpunk 2077 sequel] Orion has entered the pre-production stage.

The development of these things and the improvement of open-world technology throughout all these projects, and also benefit all of them, so in a sense, the entire resource we use now through The Witcher 4 and this technology demonstration as a vehicle for driving technological progress, which in turn benefits the entire industry.”

Earlier this month, Hermanowicz also talked about how CD Projekt RED looked at Novigre, one of the most densely populated locations in The Witcher 3, in order to create a more dense town for the upcoming Witcher 4.
