According to Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier, the game "Contraband" under development by Avalanche Studios (representative work "Self-Defense" series) has been cancelled by Microsoft, and it has been four years since the game was released publicly.

The collaborative smuggling game was first announced at a joint Xbox and Bethesda launch conference in June 2021, but there has been little news about it since then.

Avalanche Studio issued a statement on its official website to respond to the matter: "In the past few years, Avalanche Studio has worked with the Xbox Game Studio distribution department to develop Smuggling. Currently, the active development of the project has been suspended and we are evaluating its future direction.

“We thank the community for its enthusiasm since the game was announced and will be updated immediately once the next plan is determined.”
