Methane

It is a module aimed at achieving performance improvement through destructive transformation of the game.The current optimization includes:

Disable the many functions of lightmapper (LightMapper), which greatly improves the CPU performance;

Allow players to adjust the fog.After turning off the fog, you can see all the blocks visible in the visual distance, not blocked by the fog (this function is optional);

Optimize the particles in the game to make it much more impact on computer performance.

The first optimization is Methane's first card optimization.By not calculating light, the CPU and GPU no longer need to perform those slow light calculations, thereby improving the rendering performance.The client no longer cares about obtaining light from the server, and partially improves the delay and further improves the efficiency of CPU usage.

However, as a by -product that does not calculate light, Methane will apply on the client that is similar to Fullbright on the client.You can disable this function through the module menu, but this will reduce the potential performance gain and restrict the optimization applied by Methane within the range of particle optimization (default opening) and other destructive optimization (optional).

By default, Methane will also remove the pop -up window (ie, toast) in the upper right corner, but you can also turn off this feature.If you use The Open Sauce Toast Killer while using Methane, be sure to turn off this feature.

Effect

Significantly increase the frame rate and reduce the perceived stutter peak.For example, in the figure below, Methane reaches 2.2 times the frame rate.

Compatible module list, the Methane used for testing is version 2.1.

It can be seen from the list that Methane's compatibility is already good. Only a few modules that may be problematic are listed below.

Compatible in 1.19.x.But it is clear that the starlight can only take effect when turning off Methane.

Starting from 1.20, it will collapse with Methane and starlight at the same time.However, Mojang has integrated the optimization function of most starlight into its source code, so you may wish to give up the starlight.

Light and shadow
