According to foreign media Deadline, former creative director and group second-ranked Serge Hascoet, former vice president of the editorial department Thomas Francois and former game director Guillaume Patrux were tried in the Paris Criminal Court in France for ten years of sexual harassment and psychological abuse in the company.They were accused of watching pornographic movies in the office, making inappropriate remarks against female employees, sexual harassment and racial discrimination.

After several hours of preliminary hearings, the Paris Criminal Court ordered an extension to June 2 this year.After the trial, the lawyers of the three defendants refused to issue any statement to the media.

The Solidaires Informatique union, which is the prosecutor, said that in addition to the conduct of the individual under trial, the ultimate responsibility for Ubisoft's bad workplace culture lies with the company and its human resources department, and required Ubisoft as a legal entity to accept allegations of sexual harassment and sheltering.

"The second trial will highlight the systemic nature of Ubisoft's harassment, which for many years has protected harassers rather than victims for reasons of male intimacy and financial interests, putting employees at risk."

The case lawyer also said: "How can we imagine there will be a debate in June and the employer is not responsible for breaching prevention and safety obligations? If these people can do such a behavior, it is obviously their fault first, but it is also the fault of the employer who has not stopped it. Will the entire trial be held in the absence of the employer? It is simply unimaginable."

Ubisoft fired several executives in 2020 on similar charges, which also brought huge reputational risks to Ubisoft and had a great impact on its business.
