Steam new work sales hit record high in 2024: Best year

Valve recently released its annual “Steam Annual Review”, discussing the new features and user data trends of Steam last year.

V said 2024 was a “year of growth”, confirming Steam’s peak of online users was almost twice as high as in March 2020.And the new games played by users last year hit a record high.

The blog post reads: "In terms of users purchasing newly released games, 2024 is the best year on Steam's platform ever." Data is limited to the data, and the revenue from the first release of new Steam (sales revenue and pre-order revenue in the 30 days before the game is released) is 10 times that of 2014, with more than 500 games having first-release sales of more than 250,000, of which more than 200 games have revenue of more than 1 million.

These figures are up 27% and 15% respectively from 2023.

V Club also provided an icon showing that revenue from new games has grown steadily since 2017.

Many of the new works with the highest income in 2024 are "hot products" that we often report, including "Portraits of the Fantasy Beast", "Jidi 2", "Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2", "Black Myth: Wukong", etc.Other top-paid games last year include evergreen titles such as DOTA 2, CS 2, Apex Heroes and PUBG.
