In an interview with Danny Peña's Gamertag Radio, the head of the Diablo series, Rod Fergusson, talked about the possibility of porting to the Nintendo Switch 2.He pointed out that the first generation of Switch has supported a number of Diablo games, so Diablo 4 is technically feasible to land on Switch 2.

"I think there is potential for this platform," Fergusson said. "Currently, Diablo 3 and Diablo 2: Remake have landed on Switch, and the backward compatibility of Switch 2 will ensure that these games are playable on new consoles."

He further pointed out that from a performance perspective, there are no obvious obstacles to running Diablo 4, but the main challenge is how to make an online service game run smoothly on Switch 2, especially given that Switch is often used as a handheld console, players may use it in an environment without a stable network connection.

"Switch 2 is capable of supporting games like Diablo 4, so it's a direction worth exploring. The challenge is more about the non-hardware level, but how to deal with... some of the difficulties I encountered in running online service games on the Switch platform in the past."

He added: “I hope that with Switch 2 launching in June next year and our plans for the future, this issue will be gradually resolved, making online service games more feasible on the platform.”
