Bungie has settled a copyright lawsuit with writer Matthew Martino after Martino accused the studio of using elements of his work in Destiny 2, including content related to the "Red War" plot and the "Curse of Osiris" expansion pack.
The case has reportedly been settled, but the terms of the settlement, including any conditions or compensation, have not been made public.

In May of this year, Bungie tried to dismiss the lawsuit - Martino accused the original "Destiny 2" campaign of plagiarizing a story he posted online, but a U.S. federal judge ruled that the lawsuit should continue because Bungie failed to provide enough evidence to withdraw the case. The required evidence would have included a playable version of Destiny 2 with the original story campaign, but that content, like much of the game's older content, has been removed and relegated to Bungie's controversial content "archive" and is currently unplayable.
"Today, a settlement conference was held before this Magistrate," the legal document reads. "The negotiations were successful and all claims have been settled. The court thanks the attorneys and the parties for their efforts to amicably resolve this matter."
The parties have 60 days to dispute the decision and file a lawsuit, but so far, "all parties have clearly agreed on a settlement plan."
The embattled studio has had a rough year: both its Marathon and Destiny 2 brands were accused of plagiarism; earlier this year, Bungie was forced to admit that it used the work of outside artists in its upcoming game Marathon without permission. This is not the first time Bungie has faced accusations of using artists' works without permission. Similar problems have been exposed in many designs of "Destiny 2".
In addition, Bungie is also facing a $200 million "wrongful termination" lawsuit filed by Christopher Barrett, director of "Destiny 2" and "Marathon" reboot.Earlier this year, Sony responded by detailing "disturbing communications" allegedly between Barrett and female subordinates, including a "sexually suggestive game of Truth or Dare."
News broke earlier this week that Destiny 2 was not performing as expected following Sony's $3.6 billion acquisition of Bungie.Sony said in its latest financial report that its gaming division suffered a profit loss due to "impairment losses on some of Bungie's intangible assets and other assets related to "Destiny 2"."
